The Tour

The Marine Tunnels, located off the coast of Isabela Island, are one of the most iconic snorkeling spots in Galápagos. This magical landscape of lava formations, crystal-clear waters, and rich biodiversity offers a unique experience above and below the surface. The adventure begins with a 40-minute boat ride from Puerto Villamil, passing by Roca Unión, where Nazca Boobies and, occasionally, manta rays can be seen. After a short stop, the journey continues to El Finado Bay, a calm and shallow area ideal for spotting reef sharks, sea turtles, and golden rays. The final destination is the Marine Tunnels, a labyrinth of natural arches and channels where you can observe Blue-footed Boobies nesting, as well as penguins, seahorses, starfish, and a wide variety of tropical fish. A perfect blend of adventure, wildlife, and surreal landscapes.

ITINERARY

  • At 7:30 am, we depart from the main dock in Puerto Villamil for a 40-minute boat ride toward the western coast of Isabela.

  • On the way, we pass by Roca Unión, where we may observe Nazca Boobies perched on the rocks and, with a bit of luck, manta rays gliding through the sea.

  • We make a stop at El Finado Bay, a calm spot with excellent visibility, ideal for snorkeling with sea turtles, reef sharks (Tintoreras), and golden rays.

  • We continue to the Marine Tunnels, a stunning area of lava arches and shallow turquoise waters, where we snorkel among starfish, seahorses, penguins, tropical fish, Galápagos sharks, and observe Blue-footed Boobies nesting along the rocky formations.

  • After an unforgettable morning of exploration, we head back to Puerto Villamil, returning in the early afternoon with lasting memories of Isabela’s marine wonders.
