This is the most popular course globally for beginners in the sport of diving and can be undertaken with various diving agencies or certification organizations. PADI and SSI are the most recognized. This certification will designate you as an independent diver. You will be permitted to dive from this point forward, always accompanied by a buddy, to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
The course is crafted to be accessible to all audiences. It can be tailored to each student at varying times and durations, allowing for completion during free time, on weekends, or over a few days of vacation.
Certainly, you will need to invest effort and dedication; no one will simply grant you a license. However, once you obtain it, you will be a diver for life!
Requirements:
- Complete a questionnaire or undergo a medical examination.
- Understand the fundamentals of swimming.
- Minimum age: 10 years. Individuals under 15 are certified as Junior Open Water Divers.
- Duration: Typically 3 to 4 days.
- Dives: 4 Open Water + Previous Confined Water Training
- Maximum depth: 18 meters
What you will acquire in your Open Water course
In the Open Water course, you will begin with the fundamentals and progressively enhance your diving skills. This rigorous course is designed to take you from a novice to a self-sufficient diver. If you have previously participated in a scuba diving trial and found it enjoyable, you will find the course even more manageable.
To achieve this, you must acquire a theoretical foundation and develop certain skills in the water, both in the pool and in the ocean.
The course is segmented into three blocks:
- Theoretical Understanding,
- Confined Water Activities
- Open Water Diving.
These are arranged according to specific guidelines; however, the precise sequence and overall duration are contingent upon the operational dynamics of the school, the instructor, the organization, and other factors.
