North Seymour

North Seymour is a small island that has a dimension of 2 km2 (approximately) and is located 7 km north of Baltra. It is one of the best places to see large colonies of seabirds such as blue-footed boobies and puffer frigate birds, the romantic dancing blue-footed boobies, land and marine iguanas, Galapagos sea lions and sea lions, and other seabirds such as seagulls. of forked tails, shearwaters and tropical birds, this walk takes about 2 hours in this magical place.
Any time of the year is good to observe some type of courtship between these birds. If you plan to walk, explore and discover one of the islands without inhibitions, on our daily trip to North Seymour you will have the opportunity to see diverse wildlife including blue footed boobies, land iguanas and more.
Bachas Beach which is a nesting area for sea turtles and there is a small lagoon where flamingos can be seen occasionally, on this day the snorkeling activity is carried out. Also included, you may see some sea turtles, rays, white tip reef sharks, and some nice fish.

Itinerary

North Seymour

  • Your daily trip to North Seymour Island starts at 07:15 from your hotel
  • Departure from your hotel in Puerto Ayora at 07:15
  • Transfer to the Itabaca Canal 45 minutes by bus
  • Navigation from the Itabaca Channel to North Seymour Island of almost 1 hour by boat
  • Arrive at North Seymour Island, disembark for the trek.
  • Hiking on North Seymour Island for about 2 hours
  • Back on board
  • Food (Lunch)
  • Snorkel or swim from the beach
  • Navigation back to the Itabaca Channel
  • Transfer back to your hotel around 16:45

Hours: Departure is normally at 7:30 – 8:00 am and return at approximately 4:00 pm.
Travel time: 40 minute bus ride to the Itabaca Channel and 20-30 minute ride to Seymour Island.
The Tour: The tour begins with a guided walk along the 2.5km trail on North Seymour Island. The guide will explain to you (in English and Spanish) the attractions of the island and will comment on details and information about the blue-footed boobies and their nests that you will see along the way, frigate birds, tailed gulls and other seabirds that nest in this Island. You will also be able to observe sea lions, land and marine iguanas, pelicans, lava lizards and Galapagos snakes. After this walk (which lasts approximately 1 hour), you return to the boat where you can enjoy a hot lunch and soft drinks before heading to Bachas beach located on the north coast of Santa Cruz where you will snorkel (about 1 hour) and you can see sea turtles, white tip sharks, sea lions or take a relaxing walk on the sand. Back at the Itabaca canal, the bus will be waiting for you to transport you back to your hotel.
