Isabela is the longest island in galapagos and its shape similar to that of a Seahorse. Only a small área of its entire Surface is open to tourist and locals. No a long time ago, the National Park carried out a campaing to eradicate invasive species, Species that are threat to the island´s fragile biodiversity, this campaing was a very interesting milestone in the short history of Galapagós due to the rugged terrain and inaccesibility of the sites. Itinerary
Schedule: The departure is at 07h00 AM (Its necessary to be at the pier 30minutes before) and the return isa round 17h00 pm. The entrance to the island mus be paid,the Price is $10, this cost are not incluided n the initial Price.
Navigation: Its aproximatly 2 hours by ferry depending on sea conditions. (If you have problems in your neck or back you will not be abe to take this tour, since the movement of the boat can be harmful)
Activities: In the morning you will tour the town, Puerto Villamil, together with the guide and visit the turtle breeding center, where you will be able to observe 5 different species of giant land tortoises from different volcanoes on the island. You will be able to observe flamingos in the pools or lagoons and walk along the nearby beaches that will be full of marine iguanas. Lunch is a local restaurant after which you will return to the pier to embark on the bay tour. During this tour you will sail through Tintoreras Bay, home to white tip sharks, Galapagos penguins, blue footed boobies and many reef fish. During the tour you can snorkel in designated places in the bay and tour the Tintoreras islet to observe seabirds.

Isabela is a great place to spend a couple of days if you have time. You can enjoy its beaches and take a tour to the crater of the Sierra Negra volcano which is still active.

Isabela – A Beautiful Island
Isabela is one of the most beautiful islands in the archipelago with white sand beaches and a natural pier that is home to many endemic animals. It is located approximately 91 km from Puerto Ayora and can be reached after 2 hours by speedboat or half an hour by plane. Tintoreras

Bus & walking Tour

This is a snorkeling and walking tour around the bay of Tintoreras. The visitor sites are very close to the pier, but each boat that makes this tour has a special permit granted by the Galapagos National Park. The tour has 3 different departure times and consists of snorkeling, a visit to the penguin area, the blue shark channel (whitetip sharks) and areas where you can see blue-footed boobies. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and a half and includes snorkel equipment (fins, mask, tube) and naturalist guide.

Snorkel Tour

This snorkeling tour is one of the most popular in Isabela as it is a site that offers a wide variety of marine life from sea lions, seahorses, white tip sharks, reef fish and even manta rays.
The tour has 2 departure times per day and lasts around 6 hours and includes: lunch, naturalist guide and snorkel equipment (fins, snorkel, mask and tube). The place is located approximately 1 hour by boat from the Isabela pier and its name comes from the lava formations in the form of bridges that exist in this place and serve as a refuge for many species of marine animals and birds.

Volcán Sierra Negra

Bus & Walking Tour

The tour consists of a bus trip and a guided walk (approximately 2 hours) to the volcano’s crater, which is one of the largest in the world. The volcano rises to a height of 1,490 m and its last eruption was in October 2005. The trail (approximately 8 km long) will take you through some still active fumaroles. The walk takes approximately 2 hours one way and 2 hours back. You need to bring water, comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen.

El Muro de Las Lágrimas (Wall of Tears)

Bike or walking tour

The wall of tears is one of the few historical sites that Galapagos has and is located about 5 km from the town. You can walk or rent a bike to get to the wall. The trail is full of small entrances to estuaries, hidden beaches and viewpoints among local vegetation.

Concha y Perla

Snorkel Tour

Concha y Perla is a bay near the passenger dock where you can swim and snorkel (you must bring your own equipment or rent it at an agency in Puerto Villamil).

Villamil Lagoon & Turtle Breeding Center

Walking Tour

The Villamil lagoon is known for its marine iguanas, migratory birds (it is a RAMSAR site) and its flamingos. A path of about 1 km will take you through the lagoon and its surroundings where you can see endemic vegetation such as mangroves, manzanillo, etc. The trail ends at the Arnaldo Tupiza giant tortoise breeding center, where you can observe tortoises of all sizes and ages and learn a little about their life cycle and the work they have done in the National Park for the recovery of the population of these animals.
